Cookbook Gift Guide

I love a good cookbook. It’s becoming kind of a problem. Fortunately, you can reap the benefits of my obsession with this cookbook gift guide.

Last year, I shared a few favorites from my shelves, but for 2015, I decided to round up newer versions that are on my own wishlist. Below, you’ll see I’ve got a little something for everyone.

Top Row:

For the Baker: Hand Made Baking – I got this cookbook for my mom on her birthday. I really wish I’d picked up a copy for myself then. It is seriously gorgeous and judging from the pictures she texted me of items she baked – the food is great too.

For the Health Nut (or Wannabe): Happy Cooking – This is the second healthy cookbook from Giada de Laurentiis. I own nearly all of her books and plan to add this one as well, because her recipes work. Can we all get a hallelujah for that? Few things are better than having confidence when starting a new recipe.

For the Foodie: Seven Spoons – Most people would probably recommend getting Gjelina, NOPI or Zahav for your favorite foodie, but I think you should go a slightly unexpected direction with Seven Spoons. The flavor combinations are exotic and interesting, but chances are they may not have scooped this one up yet.

Bottom Row:

For the Busy Bee: Pioneer Woman Cooks Dinnertime – There are 16 minute dinner ideas in here. 16 minutes. Get this for your overworked friend. He or she will kiss the ground you walk on.

For the New(ish) Cook: Mark Bittman’s Kitchen Matrix – Mark Bittman is the king of encyclopedia cookbooks. His How to Cook Everything Vegetarian is one I reach for whenever I’m at a loss with an ingredient. This one looks like another great resource. In it, he shows several different ways to execute a single ingredient or dish, offering readers a new flexibility in the kitchen.

For the Host(ess): Martha Stewart’s Appetizers is an extensive volume filled with great entertaining ideas for your favorite host or hostess. It covers snacks, starters, small plates, bites and cocktails. I have a feeling this will become a kitchen staple, just like Martha.
