Updating your look for fall can be done really inexpensively. This year, easy-to-wear purple and metallic eyeshadows are on trend, so I picked up some drugstore finds to tackle each look. Both pack a lot of style for just a little money.
The one on the left is from Sonia Kashuk. I found it at Target, and it is named rather fittingly, The Metallics. The lavender compact is Revlon. On the backside, it gives pointers for using the shadows. I love it when cosmetics come with directions.
Lilac Eyeshadow
In the first look, I’m wearing the purple shades from the Revlon Color Stay 16-Hour palette in Seductive (Yes, that’s really it’s name.). I paired it with black ink pen liner, my favorite Josie Maran cheek color in Endless Guava and a new-to-me lipstick from NARS, Funny Face.
I used the second lightest shade in the compact on my lids and the darkest purple in my crease. The brightest color went under my brow bone, and the violet went in the outside corner of my eyes. You can kind of see it here, but the colors all have a little bit of shimmer. I love how soft and pretty this look is. It could easily be worn at work or on a date. Also, the eye shadow stays on really well, living up to it’s 16-hour claim.
The second option uses the Sonia Kashuk compact. I paired the gold and copper eyeshadows with a peach cream blush from Smashbox that’s no longer available. I layered a Josie Maran blush stick in neutral pink over it to add some color. My favorite black ink pen liner and Rimmel’s Airy Fairy lipstick round out the look. Nude lipstick is going to be big this year, so I thought it would be fitting to try it here.
Over my lids, I swept on the bronze shade and then covered it in gold. I used a liquid liner to make a cat eye and put on tons of black mascara. I used a neutral shadow on my brow bone in a bone white.
Although metallics can seem really fancy, you can easily wear the copper shade to work. I would probably save layering the gold, as shown here, for a fun night out. There’s nothing more awkward than getting to work and realizing your eyes look a little more disco than you anticipated.
