Every major fashion season, I make a list of must-haves. I look for pieces that will quickly modernize my wardrobe. Shoes, handbags and jewelry are always at the top of my list, because they have a big impact with little effort.
There were six major boot trends all over the runways. Although I have all booties and mid-calf styles shown above, there were just as many to the knee options. This fall, instead of booties versus over-the-knee, it’s all about interesting twists on the classics.
1. Strapped: Strips of leather criss-crossed booties and thigh-high boots alike. This chic trend will be one you can hold onto for a few years. It is my favorite of the six.
2. Wedges: Wedge heels on boots are big again. I had been a little hesitant with this trend, but love how easy they are to run around in. They also look equally great with skinny jeans or shift dresses.
3. Mod: With all those 60’s fashions, it’s no surprise a mod boot is in. If you want to wear the trend in an understated way, look for a block heel, slightly rounded toe and smooth brown leather. Throw on some great gold jewelry and you’re the most stylish person in the room.
4. Embellished: I know. These are Valentino Rockstud boots, and they are just a wee bit pricey. In my defense, they are gorgeous and a great example of what embellished boots should look like. I looked for a lower priced option, but truthfully, there weren’t very many cute ones out there yet. If this is the route you’d like to go, hold out for something at least half as cute as these.
5. Lace-Up: Whether slim heeled or lug-soled a lot of boots featured lacing up the front. Combat boot styles will be everywhere, but I don’t think I’ll be able to pull this look off. Instead, if I decide to go this route, I’ll choose something more like the pair shown above.
6. Unusual Shapes or Cut-Outs: A lot of runway shoes featured boots with completely open backs, like shin guards with heels. While I doubt I’ll be rocking that style, I love the pair shown above.
