So, in the last two weeks, I’ve been sick, and Ellie has been sick. To say things have not been awesome would be an understatement.
This book, however, is pretty spectacular.
My mom had lent it to me with a glowing recommendation, so I decided to give it a whirl. I read the entire thing on a girl’s trip to Savannah, which was really wonderful (more on that soon). The House Girl follows the stories of a modern woman who is a lawyer in New York and a house slave in the south. Both narratives center around a mystery. There are a few big surprises, so I don’t want to go into too much detail here. I will say the story is well-written and compelling. The sort of book that is nice to settle into.
