Nursery Sneak Peek

I’m not sure when I first fell in love with France, but I’ve had a healthy obsession with Paris since I was a little girl. I think it’s due in large part to the book Madeline.

So, when we found out we were having a baby or maybe even before that, I knew I wanted the nursery to be Madeline themed if it was a little girl.  I pictured yellow walls, framed prints and touches of red and navy. What I didn’t realize was that it’s pretty difficult to find red or navy bedding for little girls. I scouted site after site looking for details that made sense with the decor. Piece by piece, our office transformed from a hodge podge of gray, black and white into a feminine, Parisian nursery fit for une jeune fille.

The bedding I selected is navy with polka dots. It’s on back order. We’re also missing the changing pad and mattress, but other than that, it’s mostly done.

I love the items we found: wooden, French alphabet blocks; a flying piggy bank; a daisy mobile , a ceramic lion nightlight and assorted, vintage inspired nobs for the large dresser.

As far as the furniture goes, the rocking chair was made by my Uncle Steve for me when I was a baby, and the blue bookcase was purchased at a consignment shop. Keegan gussied it up with blue spray paint. We picked up the dresser at Buy Buy Baby and swapped out the boring brown nobs for seven mismatched ones.

Adding the yellow to the walls was quite a process. The color we chose at first didn’t go on evenly, but after six applications, we found the perfect shade. (It’s actually tinted primer.)
