I know it’s 100 degrees outside and that what I’m about to say might sound crazy, but I’m really excited for Fall clothes. It’s one of the reasons I haven’t had too many Fashion Fridays lately.
There, it’s out there now.
Once you see some of these photos*, I think you’ll understand why. The new pieces for next season are opulent and rich.
Think vibrant colors and intricate patterns mixed with textures (snakeskin, fur, soft wool, sequins, feathers and lots of leather). It’s all heartbreakingly beautiful — very Anna Karenina meets downtown. Here are some examples from Oscar de la Renta, Diane Von Furstenburg and Valentino.
Now, some of these looks might be too ornate for your average work day, but pay attention to the tailoring on each. The fit and lines are impeccable and clean. When looking for your new Fall pieces, think about picking up items that feel “special,” along with simple sheaths, great skirts and tailored trousers. Look for saturated, deep colors and interesting textures. Items with sheen will also fit the bill. Michael Kors and Calvin Klein both exhibited this sophisticated approach. See how in the first look Michael mixes a pretty basic dress with a dramatic coat and necklace?
Although my summer wardrobe seems to be lacking, I’ve started picking up some pieces for Fall. So far, I’ve purchased platform pumps in a metallic snakeskin and another pair in leopard. I’m also the proud owner of a bronze, chain bracelet and a shearling motorcycle vest. What are you picking up for fall?

I am so thrilled to read that I’m not the only one walking around thinking about fall fashion! It was 34 degrees (celcius) here and I spent my evening dreaming of fall boots…
Although I am very keen on the upcoming blue trend for the season I am still loving all the camel from last year. Looking to pick up a good trench, and some new boots.
What are the make of the pumps you purchased? They sound fantastic.
Looking forward to following your blog!!
