Fall is kind of the perfect season for entertaining. Whether it’s watching your favorite team or inviting family over for dinner, there is something about a crisp breeze that has people gathering together. It’s pretty awesome.
One of my favorite ways to play hostess is to make a big pot of chili, along with homemade biscuits. To create a casual, yet pretty table, I set out mugs and a pot of chili, so guests can serve themselves. Touches of plaid and blue add a cozy touch, alongside cheery sunflowers arranged loosely in a pitcher.
I chose biscuits and chili for the menu, because both can be made in advance or the day of, which makes them flexible for your schedule. Chili reheats beautifully. (In fact, it often tastes better after a day or two.) Biscuit dough can be prepped, cut into small rounds and frozen individually weeks before you have any thing on the books. They are also crowd pleasers and kid-friendly. Two of my main concerns lately.
To round out this easy lunch or dinner, serve ice cream with store bought chocolate and/or caramel sauce, along with a cheese platter for snacking before the meal.
