Over the years, I’ve discovered that I’m a big fan of nearly any cocktail with champagne in it. I like the bubbles. My go-to at swanky bars is the French 75, and I am happy to report its cousin, the French 125, is just as lovely. Hopefully, there’s not too much competition at family reunions.
The process for pulling these together is really easy, and they only require a few ingredients. Sweet and sour mix is combined with cognac to make something really special. For your reference, we used Courvoisier for the cognac (we had it on hand from Christmas when it went into eggnog) and cheap-ish sparkling wine. Since you’re combining it with so many things, I wouldn’t spring for an expensive bottle here.

The Ultimate Bar Book – The Comprehensive Guide to Over 1,000 Cocktails
Makes 1 drink
Ingredients:
3/4 oz. cognac
1 1/2 oz. sweet and sour mix
3 to 5 oz. chilled sparkling wine
Directions:
In a cocktail shaker, combine the cognac and sweet and sour mix. Shake together. Strain into an ice filled glass. Slowly top with chilled champagne (sparkling wine in our case). Easy-peasy, right?
Try the French 125 this weekend with your favorite people. You won’t be disappointed.
