Dining Room Inspiration

When it comes to our home’s decor, I’m always working on something. My most recent “project” is a space I thought was mostly done, but now, am rethinking – our dining room. We recently got rid of a hutch that never quite fit the bill. I’ve been looking for a great buffet for over a year with no luck, so unfortunately, the space is quite empty now. In the meantime, I’ve been scouring the web for inspiration from design experts.

Looking at these drool-worthy dining rooms can be a bit overwhelming to those of us with non-professional grade decorating skills. However, when looking at images I like, I think about what small (or big) ideas I can take away from these polished rooms.

Based on my research, here’s what I think I should consider next:

1. A mix of chairs and tables – not a traditional set (which is of course what I have)

2. A statement light fixture

3. A combination of fabrics and texture

4. Artwork or photography to keep things interesting

5. The addition of plants

6. The use of cool colors (all blues and greens with neutrals here)

7. A change in paint color – Currently, it is beige and chocolate, but I’m loving these lightened up rooms.

When looking for inspiration for your home, where do you turn for the next big idea? Any places I should consider?
