Fashion Friday: 9 to 5 Chic

I had every intention of talking about the Navajo trend today, but when looking for good examples of it, I didn’t have a lot of luck. So, I decided to switch gears and tell you about a new, favorite blog of mine.

I discovered 9 to 5 Chic last week and am already obsessed. Since entering the workforce permanently,* I’ve had a hard time creating a professional, yet fresh look. So often, magazines show examples of professional wear that I think would never work for me. They’re too edgy or too dressed up. My office is conservative, but we’re business casual. While at work, I want to look pulled together, but not dowdy, young, but not unprofessional. In short, I want to look like this.

If you’ve never visited 9 to 5 Chic, take a trip over to Anh’s site. The photography  is beautiful, and her style is impeccable. One of my favorite aspects is the way she uses a variety of pieces. You can quickly see how her separates take her from work to weekend. I’ve always struggled with this transition and have often felt like  I had to have two wardrobes: one for work and one for weekend. This strategy is pricey and often makes me feel like I have nothing to wear.

What are your go-to work pieces? Which ones take you into the weekend?

*I realized this makes it sound like I just started working. I’ve actually been working more than 9 to 5 for eight years. Which had me wondering why has it taken so long to take control of my work style?

  1. she’s got such amazing style!

  2. I have two wardrobes as well. We have a very informal atmosphere here at work – but I try to avoid anything too “sexy” like low cut blouses, short skirts and form fitting jeans. However when it comes to my handbags, I am totally on the practical side. Even though I work for a company that makes designer handbags, I have very simple tastes. Since I don’t like to switch all that stuff over from one to another. I normally just wind up with one bag that lasts all month long.
