Spring Wishlist

So, I know it’s still technically February, but can we talk about spring?

I’m dying for it.

I’ve also got a long list of things I’d like to do over the next few months and quite frankly, can’t wait to get started.

1. Make olive oil and maple granola.

2. Clean out my garden, which is kind of a disaster.

3. Go on walks outside.

4. Read a few books. (I have several picked out. Hopefully, there will be some good ones to tell you about.)

5. Get someone’s nursery ready.

6. Find the perfect spring nail polish.

7. Watch The Hunger Games.

8. Take a trip with friends.

9. Buy some sandals.

10. Make an olive oil cake.

11. Eat pea puree and salmon.

12.  Go on a strawberry bender. I think it’s time to find the perfect shortcake recipe.

13. Check out Mark Bittman’s Food Matters.

14. Make plans for a new vegetable garden.

15. Hit up The Gap for some miniature DVF wrap dresses.

16. Add some pansies to my front porch.

Red Carpet Recap

While I may not be a huge fan of sitting through award shows, I am very into red carpet fashion. Last night, I made notes as to which Oscar looks were my favorites. Here are my top five. Please note how many are sequined.

Perfect Palette

I first heard about this eye make-up palette from Mindy Kaling‘s blog. She describes it as being great for travel, which I completely agree with, but I think we can go a step further. It’s perfect for everything.

In one palette, you’ll find the tools to create both day and evening looks. Rich browns, a pretty purple and smoky shades are all enriched with a bit of shimmer. It has basically replaced all of my other shadows. And, it does make packing much easier. Continue reading

Turkey Burgers with a Mango and Avocado Salsa

For Christmas this year, my husband gave me a cookbook with the intention that he would make me meals out of it. While it hasn’t happened as often as he may have hoped, he’s managed to craft a few tasty dishes. One of the items he successfully made was fish tacos. They were delicious, but to me, the real star of the dish was the mango and avocado salsa that went on them. It was easy to put together and absolutely delicious. I wanted to eat it all the time and thought a turkey burger would be the perfect vehicle for it. Sometimes, I’m really on to something.

Don’t believe me? Try them for yourself.

So, I’m pregnant. And, we’re having a baby girl in June.

There, I’ve finally said it. Continue reading

Happy Valentine’s Day

I know I’ve been gone for awhile, and I have a long list of reasons/excuses I’d love to share with you. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time to list them today, so I’m dropping in to woo you with some romantic tunes. (I’ll come clean very soon. I promise.)

Here are two of my recent favorites.

Do you forgive me now? Or, should I send flowers?
